Scholarships & Discounts

We want to make camp a reality for ALL children!  In fact, one of our main goals when we created Camp Lakotah was to offer a high-quality program at an affordable price.  We fully believe that all kids should have the opportunity to attend Camp Lakotah and no one should be left behind due to finances.

Each year we work hard to find funding from friends, family, private donors, and like-minded organizations that want to support a camp experience for our campers.  In turn, we use 100% of all donations to directly benefit those in need.  In 2011 we created the Sarah Collis-Olier Need for Nature scholarship program here at Lakotah.

Along with scholarships, we also offer discounts, camper programs, and payment plans.  If you can’t find an option that works for your family, please contact us!

Need for Nature Scholarship Program

Thank you for your interest in sending your child to Camp Lakotah this summer.  We are confident that they will have a great time with us and we look forward to having them join our camp family!

The intent of our scholarship fund is to provide financial assistance to families that might not otherwise be able to afford the full cost of a summer camp experience.  Scholarships may be granted based on income or special circumstances or both.   This assistance is granted in the form of a partial tuition campership and is dependent upon the availability of funds.  In order to spread the funds and serve more children, we do not offer any full tuition camperships.

Please Note:  Campers may also qualify for a multiple camper discount, early enrollment discount or scholarship, but not all three.   Only one discount or fee reduction per camper.

Scholarship Guidelines:

  • Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. (One application per camper)
  • Funding is limited and scholarships are not guaranteed to all applicants.
  • Income eligibility is based on household size, and all sources of household income. Wages, spousal/child support, unemployment, social security, and any other source of income must be included when reporting income.
  • Scholarships are for camp registration fees only and do not cover the cost of other camp expenses such as the camp store, transportation, supplies, etc..
  • Applications are evaluated without regard to race, religion, natural origin, gender, or physical ability.
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on need and/or merit.

Scholarship Recipient Requirements:

  • Submit completed Day or Overnight Camp Enrollment Application.
  • Submit completed Scholarship Application including documentation demonstrating need.
Camps For Kids

Camp Lakotah is proud to partner with the Camps for Kids program.  Established in 1994, the mission of Camps for Kids is to provide life changing, first-time resident camp experiences for children in Milwaukee County. Camps for Kids offers a unique opportunity to youth ages 8-15 to attend an overnight, residential camp in Wisconsin. Each camp provides exciting activities and a chance to meet new friends and learn in a safe environment.

First-time campers from families with limited financial resources are referred to Camps for Kids from over 25 agencies. Based on their interests, parents match their child with one of the participating American Camp Association accredited camps in Wisconsin.

The founding organizations of Camps for Kids included: Faye McBeath Foundation,The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Youth Serving Agencies (Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, COA Youth & Family Centers, Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast, Holiday Home, YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee), the American Camp Association Wisconsin, Milwaukee Public Schools Division of Community Recreation, and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

For 25 years, this collaboration has provided a week of camp for over 5,200 children (ages 8 -15 years old) who lacked the economic means for such a rewarding introduction to overnight camping.

Camp Lakotah ONLY accepts campers between the ages of 10 & 12 years to participate in this program.  If your camper falls outside that range, please visit the Camps for Kids website to learn about other camps offered in WI.
