Welcome To Camp Lakotah

Camp Lakotah is an intimate camp where children spend their summer days in an encouraging environment of play, learning, companionship, and fresh air!  Lakotah enjoys a beautiful, private setting nestled in the majestic pines along the shores of Little Hills Lake near Wautoma, Wisconsin.

Our summer camp experience provides cozy cabin living, creative counselors from all around the world, innovative programing, new friends, roaring campfires, cool splashes in a crystal-clear lake and views of the Milky Way!   A Camp Lakotah experience is uniquely poised to provide your child with the sense of wonder and excitement so essential to their growth and development.

And participation in a summer camp program has been shown to improve student achievement across core subject areas and increase engagement in learning. In addition, getting kids outside and active promotes a healthy lifestyle!

Camp Lakotah is a camp where every camper knows the rest and counselors are like family.  Our limited enrollment, caring counselors, and close family atmosphere makes Lakotah campers feel welcomed, safe, and valued.

From archery and riflery, to swimming, boating, canoeing, and kayaking to arts & crafts, nature and outdoor living skills, campers can experience a rich variety of activities. A typical day at Lakotah includes participating in three activity areas of personal choice in the morning, cabin activities in the afternoon, and all camp activities in the evening. This schedule provides campers a chance to grow both independently and as a member of a group. Our weekly theme days add a twist to the normal camp routine and give campers and staff a chance to show off their creativity!

Summer 2021 & Covid-19

We plan to open our doors for an amazing summer at Camp Lakotah on June 7th!

For over a year now, our kids have been faced with countless changes, restrictions, and disappointments.  From the limited access to school and extra-curricular clubs & sports, cancelled family vacations and holidays, to the seemingly endless days of not having much to do, there is no question our kids have had life disrupted.   Camp is the perfect place for your child to regain much of what they are missing; healthy relationships with peers, exploring the world around them, being active in the outdoors, and maybe most important just enjoying life again.

2021 has brought us new hope and optimism as we begin to win the battle against the virus. We whole-heartedly believe that children will be itching to get back into their summer routines!  Last summer, with a few adaptations to our program, we were able to serve over 300 campers providing them with an amazing Lakotah experience.  It was different in some ways.  Different program schedules, fewer campers and staff per session, and a few extra protections and precautions in place. But we achieved the same positive results;  campers connecting with friends, learning new skills, and having fun being a kid!   As a result of all our hard work, we were able to complete a safe and incredibly rewarding full summer without any Covid transmissions.

This coming summer we plan to continue to use all available tools and knowledge to safely guide our program operations.  Industry best practices from the CDC and our local health department, carefully weigh in along with providing an environment that promotes a sense of normalcy and cognitive and social stimulation for our staff and campers.  Building foundational skills in the social, emotional, and cognitive development of our campers will continue to be the cornerstone of our program.
